Nineteen of the Russian's twenty-one titles have been achieved on hard courts

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first championship for 882 days with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a torrid season, managing just one win at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the American major.

His inconsistency on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately separating with long-term mentor his previous coach.

Currently collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a closely contested competitive win over opponent Moutet.

It is his initial title after the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface since that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has achieved 21 titles at 21 distinct tournaments.

"This marks the first occasion I have attended a tournament with my children at once, so to get a title is really nice," stated world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter my daughter, because the maiden victory I got when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

The player's counter-punching approach and recurring reactions on court had prompted some to doubt if his skill to play at the elite level was over.

However the player has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform assertively, backed up by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a disadvantage in the first set against the tricky opponent, taking four of the concluding five games to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before the challenger, attempting for his maiden professional title, seized the initiative to push for a third set.

Moutet rescued 4 early break points in a close third set before the champion broke to fifteen to secure the win.

Suitably, he earned the win with a rally at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a volley after over two and a half hours.
